The first part mainly focuses on expanding the scope of this class of group 4 1-metallacyclobuta-2,3-dienes.
Four new 1-metallacyclobuta-2,3-dienes were synthesized and fully characterized. Solid
state NMR and EPR spectroscopy, as well as cyclic voltammetry were used for the first
time on these complexes to gain a better understanding of the nature of these complexes.
The second part of this thesis focuses on synthesis, characterization and reactivity
towards carbodiimides. The third part explores the reactivity of 1-metallacyclobuta-2,3-dienes
with diazenes.
