Abstract: Cyanobacteria are the only prokaryotes capable of oxygenic photosynthesis. This dissertation explores regulatory mechanisms in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 during transitions between heterotrophic and photoautotrophic lifestyles. It highlights the role of the Entner-Doudoroff pathway, particularly the enzyme Eda, in glycogen breakdown during CO2 changes. The role of Cp12 as Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle regulator during glucose supply and CO2 shifts is examined. The role of PirC for carbon allocation via interaction with PII and phosphoglycerate mutase is investigated.
