Abstract: Cyanobacteria have a remarkable ability to adapt to fluctuating environmental conditions. Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 can adopt different trophic modes. In this dissertation, the role of protein phosphorylation in acclimation processes was investigated. Global proteome and phospho-proteome studies with Synechocystis under changing CO2 levels were performed and found many responsive phosphorylation events. Furthermore, the role of the 12 serine/threonine protein kinases (SpkA-L) in acclimation processes was analyzed under different environmental conditions in Synechocystis mutants.
