This study aims to analyze the influence of rewetting on different fen types (drained
and rewetted) with regard to N2O emissions. Overall, N2O emissions were small and
fluctuated strongly, and hotspots/ hot moments appeared to have a strong influence
on N2O emissions. It was found that N2O could be reduced to N2 at all sites. Both
nitrification and denitrification processes contributed to the production of N2O at
all sites and took place simultaneously. Large N2O emissions were found for soils
samples that had to be dried before the incubation experiment due to an extremely
high water content.

Ziel dieser Studie ist es, den Einfluss der Wiedervernässung auf verschiedene Niedermoortypen
(entwässert und wiedervernässt) im Hinblick auf N2O-Emissionen zu analysieren. Insgesamt
waren die Emissionen gering und schwankten stark. Hotspots/ hot Moments schienen einen
starken Einfluss auf die Emissionen zu haben. Auf allen Standorten konnte N2O zu N2
reduziert werden. Sowohl Nitrifikations- als auch Denitrifikationsprozesse trugen
zur Produktion von N2O bei und fanden zeitgleich statt. Je stärker die Bodenproben
vor dem Inkubationsversuch getrocknet wurden, desto höhere Emissionen traten auf.
