Mithilfe von molekulardynamischen Simulationen wurde zunächst die Stabilität von Methanhydraten
als Referenzsystem untersucht. Anschließend wurden die Gastmoleküle ‚geladen‘ oder
durch unterschiedliche Kombinationen von Kationen und Anionen monovalenter Salze ersetzt.
Primäres Ziel war die Bestimmung der Stabilitätskriterien für die sogenannten ‚Salty
Clathrates‘, deren thermodynamische Stabilität in Abhängigkeit von Druck, Temperatur
und Ionengröße untersucht wurden. Molekulardynamische Simulationen liefern zudem ein
Verständnis der Bildungs- und Zersetzungskinetik der ‚Salty Clathrates‘.

Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, the stability of methane hydrates was first
analyzed as a reference system. Subsequently, the guest molecules were 'loaded' or
replaced by different combinations of cations and anions of monovalent salts. The
primary aim was to determine the stability criteria for the so-called 'salty clathrates',
whose thermodynamic stability was investigated as a function of pressure, temperature
and ion size. MD simulations also provided an understanding of the formation and decomposition
kinetics of the 'salty clathrates'.
