Abstract: The methane dehydroaromatization (MDA) over Mo/HZSM-5 was investigated regarding reaction and deactivation behavior of the catalysts as well as oxidative regeneration and loading with promotors. By doping of the Mo/HZSM-5 with niobium a significant improvement of the long-term stability of the catalyst against irreversible deactivation was achieved. Using various ex situ and in situ characterization methods, the effects could be attributed to a redox interaction between Mo and Nb as well as the formation of a mixed carbide under reaction conditions.
