Abstract: Social anxiety encompasses the fear of negative evaluation of oneself by others. It often becomes chronic and significantly impacts daily life. A retrospective analysis of data from 631 inpatients in psychotherapy revealed a discrepancy between the ICD-10 diagnosis of Social Phobia (F40.1) and psychometric tests (SIAS/SPS). Social anxiety disorder was associated with greater psychological impairment, more interpersonal problems, and lower quality of life. Despite therapeutic progress, social anxiety negatively affected treatment outcomes.
