In this work, state of the art in vitro cell exposure systems, in combination with
comprehensive physical and chemical analytical characterization techniques, were used
to investigate allergy enhancing and allergy pro-tective factors and mechanisms. In
a last study, we went one step further and for the first time enabled or exposed in
vitro cells continuously for 72 hours at the air liquid interface with ambient air,
demonstrating the feasibility, as well as cytotoxicity and immunoregulatory effects.

In dieser Arbeit wurden hochmoderne In-vitro Expositionssysteme für die Zellexposition,
in Kombi-nation mit umfassenden physikalischen und chemisch analytischen Charakterisierungstechniken
verwendet, um allergieverstärkende- bzw. allergieschützende Faktoren und Mechanismen
zu untersuchen. In der letzten Studie gingen wir einen Schritt weiter und ermöglichten
bzw. exponierten zum ersten Mal in vitro Zellen kontinuierlich für 72 Stunden an der
Luftflüssigkeitsschicht mit Umgebungsluft, und konnten damit die Durchführbarkeit
zeigen, als auch Zytotoxizität sowie immunregulierende Effekte feststellen.
