Abstract: The dissertation develops an approach to transformative economic education against the backdrop of ecological, social and epistemological crises. It critiques established forms of economic education and reconstructs research as a practice carrying societal responsibility. Through a critical analysis of the discipline, an examination of the author’s own contributions and a theoretical outline drawing on Bateson and Bronfenbrenner, it proposes a heuristic that reorients science and education as intertwined and intentionally shapeable fields of practice.
