Abstract: The composition of dynamic device ensembles of ubiquitous systems cannot be anticipated for application development. In this thesis, programming abstractions are presented that hide the number of devices to be bound behind an interface declaration to the application, shift the processing of method calls to the runtime environment, adaptively switch the communication paradigm for individual connections or a group of receivers with local heuristics, and map the interaction patterns to publish/subscribe communication.
