Perennial weeds like Cirsium arvense and Sonchus arvensis pose serious challenges
in conventional and organic farming. Due to health and environmental risks, reducing
synthetic herbicide use is vital. With herbicides such as glyphosate under restrictions,
bio-based herbicides like pelargonic acid (PA) are being explored. This thesis aimed
to evaluate strategies to enhance PA efficacy and explore its potential in managing
both perennial weeds and cover crops, and addressing existing gaps and limitations.
