Bei Knieendoprothesenträgern können signifikant erhöhte Metallionenkonzentrationen
von Chrom und Cobalt im Vollblut im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe nachgewiesen werden.
Schlussendlich kann ein erhöhtes Aktivitätsniveau eine mögliche Ursache für die erhöhten
Metallionenkonzentrationen im Vollblut sein. Basierend auf den vorliegenden Ergebnissen
scheinen die Metallkonzentrationen im Vollblut bei Knieendoprothesenträgern keine
zirkadianen oder mittelfristigen Schwankungen zu unterliegen.

Patients with knee arthroplasty showed significantly increased metal ion concentrations
of chromium and cobalt in whole blood compared to the control group. Finally, an increased
activity level may be a possible cause for the increased metal ion concentrations
in whole blood. Based on the present results, the metal concentrations in the whole
blood of patients with knee arthroplasty do not appear to be subject to circadian
or medium-term fluctuations.
