Understanding individual differences in personality and its relation to cognitive
abilities in farm animals, has gained increased attention for welfare purposes, because
personality and its relationships to cognitive abilities may have an impact on economic
factors as farm animals must cope with numerous challenging situations, automatic
systems and different husbandry practises during their lifetime. We found individual
personality in dwarf goats having an effect on physiology and learning.

Das Verständnis des Zusammenhangs zwischen individuellen Unterschieden in der Persönlichkeitsstruktur
und kognitiven Fähigkeiten von Nutztieren hat aus Tierschutzgründen zunehmend an Bedeutung
gewonnen, da der Zusammenhang zwischen Persönlichkeit und Kognition Auswirkungen auf
wirtschaftliche Faktoren haben kann. Nutztiere sind im Laufe ihres Lebens zahlreichen
Herausforderungen wie z. B. automatischen (Melk-)systemen und diversen Haltungsformen
ausgesetzt. Wir konnten Persönlichkeitsstrukturen bei Ziegen finden, die zudem einen
Einfluss auf kognitiven Fähigkeiten hatten.
