Besides their negative impact on crop yield, weeds provide important ecosystem services,
for example, by supporting pollinators and natural enemies of pest species. This study
links weed functional traits with weed distribution maps to separate negative effects
(disservice potential) from ecological benefits (service potential). Site-specific
weed management enables control measures to focus on areas with higher disservice
than service potential, helping to reduce herbicide use while promoting functional
biodiversity.

Neben dem negativen Einfluss von Unkräutern auf den Ertrag erbringen sie wichtige
Ökosystemleistungen, etwa durch die Förderung von Bestäubern und natürlichen Gegenspielern
von Schädlingen. Diese Studie verknüpft funktionelle Unkrauteigenschaften mit Unkrautverteilungskarten,
um negative Effekte (Disservice-Potenzial) vom ökologischen Nutzen (Service-Potenzial)
zu trennen. Ein teilflächenspezifisches Unkrautmanagement ermöglicht, Maßnahmen auf
Bereiche mit höherem Disservice- als Service-Potenzial zu fokussieren und so Herbizideinsatz
zu reduzieren sowie funktionelle Diversität zu fördern.
