Abstract: This dissertation develops novel catalytic methods for the functionalization of α,β-unsaturated ketones through cycloaddition and deconjugative alkylation reactions using transition-metal, organophosphine, and Brønsted base catalysis. Efficient syntheses of polycyclic and spirocyclic heterocycles were achieved with high selectivity, broad substrate scope, and scalability. Mechanistic studies provided insights into catalyst-controlled reactivity, expanding synthetic strategies for medicinal and materials chemistry.
