Cold plasma-mediated toxicity in cutaneous and ulcerating cancer tissues

Abstract: Breast cancer mortality and treatment side effects highlight the need for alternative or complementary therapies. Physical plasma has emerged as a promising anticancer approach. This thesis explores plasma’s effects on ulcerating breast cancer using 2D/3D in vitro models, in vivo xenografts, patient-derived tissues, and biopsies. Plasma consistently reduced tumor growth, induced programmed cell death, and modulated the tumor microenvironment. It also triggered systemic immune effects and showed no genotoxicity, supporting its safe and effective complementary therapy.
