Abstract: The GDR further education system knew manifold formats of collegial exchange of experience. The pedagogical readings (“Pädagogischen Lesungen”) represented a form that was characterized by specific features. The article provided here intends to contribute to a systematic description and presentation of conceptual elements of the further education system. On this basis, the pedagogical readings are located within this system and their characteristics are elaborated.
