Abstract: The "Who Produces German Films? Gender Report 2009–2013" analyzes differences between films directed by men and women in terms of funding, budget, box office, and festival success. Examining German feature films from 2009–2013 using data from the German Federal Film Board (FFA), the study reveals that women-directed films represent only one-fifth of productions, receive less funding and smaller budgets. Despite this, they garner acclaim, winning more awards and participating in more festivals, indicating a notable disparity in recognition and support within German film production.
