Die Masterarbeit untersucht die museale Darstellung des Gwangju-Aufstandes von 1980
anhand ausgewählter Fallbeispiele in Seoul und Gwangju. Das Ziel ist, anhand des musealen
Aufarbeitungsprozesses Erkenntnisse über die übergeordnete, südkoreanische Identität
zu gewinnen. Eine weiterführende Analyse der Vergangenheitsaufarbeitung erfolgt in
den Bereichen Politik, Gesellschaft, Religion und Kultur.

The master's thesis examines the museum presentation of the Gwangju Uprising of 1980
using selected case studies in Seoul and Gwangju. The aim is to gain insights into
the overarching South Korean identity based on the museum's process of coming to terms
with the past. A further analysis of the process of coming to terms with the past
is carried out in the areas of politics, society, religion and culture.
