Die Arbeit untersucht internationale Gastwissenschaftler*innen an den naturwissenschaftlichen
Instituten der Deutschen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Berlin. Grundlage sind die
Jahrbücher der Akademie sowie ergänzende Archivquellen. Im Fokus stehen die Fachbereiche
Chemie und Physik. Die Ergebnisse zeigen eine deutliche Dominanz von Gästen aus sozialistischen
Staaten und befreundeten Ländern des Globalen Südens. Besonders stark vertreten waren
die ČSSR, Ägypten, Bulgarien und China. Deutlich wird, dass internationale Kooperation
stark politisch geprägt war.

This study examines international visiting scholars at the natural science institutes
of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin. It is based on the academy's yearbooks
and supplementary archival sources. The focus is on the fields of chemistry and physics.
The results show a clear dominance of guests from socialist states and friendly countries
in the Global South. The ČSSR, Egypt, Bulgaria, and China were particularly well represented.
It is clear that international cooperation was strongly influenced by politics.
