Abstract: The aim of the present study was to demonstrate that cognitive environmental enrichment affect the animals ethologically and physiologically positive in the short and long term. Conditioning to individual acoustic cues as signal for a food-reward caused 1. a selective physiological response of the animals to their own individual signal and 2. an unstressed food consumption. Furthermore, the presentation of the learning tasks resulted in a positive, emotional arousal and a more explorative and less fearful behavior in a challenging situation in the long term.
