Abstract: In this study we research the long-term outcome of 35 patients after autologous intramyocardial CD 133+ bone marrow stem cell transplantation with concomitant CABG was compared to a control group, who received CABG surgery only after myocardial infarction. During the follow-up period up to 5 years the stem cell group showed excellent survival rates and the myocardial perfusion score was significantly increased in the stem cell group. The results show that transplantation of purified BMSC may have a sustained safety and functional long-term benefit.
