Abstract: Major complications of bare metal stents and drug eluting stents are in stent restenosis and late stent thrombosis. Absorbable stents of corrodible metal or absorbable polymers provide an approach to avoid these complications. In this study the approach of absorbable polymer is pursued. In comparison to polymer stents of other research groups the investigated bioabsorbable polymer stent with the balloon expandable design shows good stent properties. The recoil 3.9 ± 0.7 % is in the range of the recoil of bare metal stents, while the collapse pressure 0.49 ± 0.06 bar is in the range of bare metal stents from the ‘90ies.
