|
This dissertation developed an anaerobic pre-treatment process for high-strength organic
wastewater, ensuring high COD removal efficiency, process stability, and compliance
with discharge standards. The process stability is significantly dependent on controlling
the VOA/alkalinity ratio. A physicochemical model was developed to study the interrelation
of VOA accumulation with a ratio of VOA/Alkalinity, alkalinity, pH, pCO2, and concentration
of un-dissociated HAc. The implemented full-scale biogas plant proved to be economically
viable and contributed to sustainable energy production.
